The client

The United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration, working closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all — providing services and advice to governments and migrants, including refugees and internally displaced people.

The challenge: course creation

UN IOM needed a 15-minute eLearning course to introduce staff to the Migration Governance Framework (MiGOF), which outlines the conditions and practices that ensure effective, well-managed migration. Because of the global nature of the IOM workforce, the course had to be responsive across tablets, smartphones and desktops. It also needed to accommodate embedded GoAnimate videos, ethnically diverse characters and voice-over accents to reflect the organization’s culture.

Our solution

Ideaon created a micro-learning course — a Learning Burst — for UN IOM. We focused on presenting the MiGOF principles (adherence to international standards and migrants’ rights; evidence-based, whole-of-government policy; strong partnerships) and objectives (advancing the socioeconomic wellbeing of migrants and society; effective crisis response; safe, orderly and dignified migration).

We built the 15-minute interactive course using HTML5 and Articulate Storyline, delivering the material with visually engaging animations and a modern color palette in keeping with UN IOM’s branding guidelines — ready to be delivered globally.
