UN IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of
migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and
non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane
and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services
and advice to governments and migrants, including refugees and
internally displaced people. The IOM Constitution recognizes the link
between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as
well as to the right of freedom of movement. IOM activities include
the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and
guidance, protection of migrants’ rights, migration health and the
gender dimension of migration. Learn more at www.iom.int
UN IOM needed a 15-minute eLearning course to introduce the IOM staff
to the Migration Governance Framework (MiGOF). MiGOF outlines the
systematic requirements of conditions and practices that ensure effective
and well-managed movement and migration. Due to the global nature
of the IOM workforce, the course needed to be responsive as to be
viewable on tablets and smartphones, as well as desktops. The course
needed to accommodate embedded GoAnimate videos to further customize
it to the organizational culture. The client also requested ethnically diverse
characters and voice-over accents.
Ideaon created a micro-learning course called a Learning Burst for UN IOM.
Ideaon focused on presenting the principles (Adherence to international
standards and the fulfilment of migrants’ rights, Migration and related
policies are best formulated using evidence and whole-of-government
approaches, Good migration governance relies on strong partnerships) and
objectives (Good migration governance and related policy should seek to
advance the socioeconomic wellbeing of migrants and society, Good migration governance is based on effective responses to the mobility dimensions of crises, Migration should take place in a safe, orderly and dignified manner) of the MiGOF. Ideaon created the 15-minute, interactive course using HTML5 and Articulate Storyline. Ideaon was able to deliver the material using visually engaging
animations and a modern color pallet, in keeping with the UN IOM branding guidelines. The new course will be delivered globally in the spring.
